in Pandora’s Panacea ~ Holographic Works of Art (2007)
by CAROLE SAWO
The Venus Returns
Tread softly lest you waken her
For you shall not beguile
Nor learn that taught or fathom thought
From Mona Lisa smile
Oh gentlemen of princely pen
Best not the lily gild
If half a mind then half be blind
Forever to bewilde
In grace ne’er lust or turn to dust
And never may you quest
Nor steal a kiss nor share a wish
Nor sleep upon her breast
Oh mother’s son may you be one
The moment you concede
Within her power could she devour
Or set a tiny seed
Tis men of old that happen gold
Whenever he confess
A mystery from Heaven she
Both Angel and temptress
Take second chance and second glance
A faint heart never earn
And know her will when time stand still
The Venus shall return
