Are you losing it or getting it?
BY CAROLE SAWO
The Dark Night of the Soul, first described in deeply mystical writings by St. John of the Cross and Teresa of Ávila, is the experience of a journey through extreme separation. It is a tightrope between psychosis and awakening that many misunderstand and therefore get lost in the dark thoughts of schizophrenia. So how do we make sense of what is happening?
Only in my work will you learn that “we have a heartbreak before a mind break.” Before the mind begins to break away from familiar reality, there is often a profound emotional experience that has not been fully realised. Heartbreak, loss, rejection, abandonment, trauma, grief, or the collapse of something that gave life meaning can create an internal rupture. The emotional pain can become so overwhelming that the way we experience ourselves and the world begins to change. The mind starts to retreat inward. Thoughts become more intense. Inner experiences can become externalised. Reality can begin to feel different. What was once familiar may become strange, frightening or profoundly meaningful.
This is the process I explain through depth psychology, psychoanalysis, metaphysics and mysticism, and I am delighted to let you know that today I have put an entirely new audio recording in The Study for you ‘The Dark Night of the Soul’, to access now and keep as a lifetime resource, explaining the experience and providing strategies for you to navigate it.
Today I have also posted two short reels on my YouTube channel that you can watch by clicking on the images to the right. I will be posting more clips on this subject in the coming weeks, so be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel for new releases.
I let you know way ahead of time that our world would be in the state it’s in now. We are collectively going through The Dark Night of the Soul. But if you follow the pathway I’ve been describing, the heartbreak will prove to be the beginning of a much deeper psychological process: a breakdown of the old way of being, followed by chaos, fragmentation, altered perception. Misunderstood, it looks like psychosis. But understood, it is a profound transformation of consciousness.
All light and bright things,
Carole
